Our furry friends

Our pets give us so much love and just ask to be loved in return.  As I sit here writing this blog post I am surrounded by my furry friends.  On the floor on my left is my beloved dog, above my right shoulder on the couch is one of my cats, and in front of me on the cat post is her sister.  My dog is an old girl now and her age is catching up to her health wise.  Her hearing and sight are going but she is still here and greets me with a wagging tail every day.

The sister cats came into our lives over a year ago.  Their litter was abandoned by the owner and taken in by a friend’s sister who had nurtured them back to health.  My friend had posted pictures of the kittens so we went to take a look.  My boys liked the black and white kitten and I fell in love with the striped one who ran around my feet.  We took them both home for the weekend to see which one would be a good fit for our family.  They slept together, played together, and even cleaned each other.  My children’s laughter filled the house as they watched the kittens run around and jump on their laps.  It was obvious to us by the end of the weekend that we could not separate these two from each other… or from our family… so we adopted both of them!

Our pets don’t care what we look like, what kind of car we drive, where we live, what designer name tag is attached to our purse or clothing… but they do care about us.  They don’t argue with us or walk away because they don’t agree with our view points.  Instead they jump on our laps, purr, wag their tails, snuggle with us, and look at us with love in their eyes.  Our hearts grow bigger from this pure, simple love and loyalty.  Some people would say our pets are lucky we found them but I say we are lucky to have found them!
