Today we remember veterans on Memorial Day. All over the U.S. volunteers decorate military graves with the American flag to honor those who gave their lives for their country. This weekend my son and his fellow boy scouts took part in this annual tradition. It was a day colder than normal and the rain clouds hovering overhead added to the somber feel of the cemetery. In a few minutes these young boy scouts turned empty fields into vibrant flowing colors of red, white and blue. It is a moment that is hard to put into words. A feeling of sorrow to see thousands of flags that represent so many lives lost yet a feeling of pride to see young boy and girl scouts honor the memory of veterans in such a beautiful way. Today we say two little words to those veterans, “Thank You!”
