Thankful Thursday – The Helpers

Seasons blog

“It’s ok, we’re going to get you out,” a voice yelled out in the darkness. An SUV lay flipped on its side as silhouettes of first responders appeared through flashing lights. My heart felt like it had jumped into my throat as I was ushered past an accident scene on my way home from work a few days ago. As I drove by a voice from outside repeated the words that have echoed through my head all week, “It’s ok, we’re going to get you out.” The helpers had already arrived and were taking care of everything.

Paramedics, firefighters, police, and other trained first responders head out into the unknown every day. These men and women run towards danger and sacrifice their own safety for others on a daily basis. They are out there in all seasons and weather temperatures willing to help wherever they can. For all the first responders – for all the helpers – I am thankful!

  1. Karin says:

    Well done and AMEN!

  2. Oh wow – what a great time to say a prayer of Thanks! I think that today is the day I go buy a case of water and drop it off at the local fire station!

  3. Kate, a few years ago my boys took some drawings they did of police officers to the local police station. It made everyone’s day at the police station. Just a simple little thing can brighten up their day!
